Martin S. - 1999 Mitsubishi Galant
From the eyes of  ( Image Credit(s) ) "R.S. Nile," and "Nial Givens," we bring you the most collaborative collage to fully encompass a Gripset feature ever!

Man this is a long overdue feature! we say that because we encountered this lad Martin back in Sept. 2012. Yes he had originally submitted his refreshing ride to us nearly a year ago. Somehow, with the defects and or mishaps of the new grip-set email server communications failed between us and Martin. Like a fleeting fog he just slipped through the cracks and was gone. Sometime later, quite a while later apparently, while lurking on a popular forum there again we stumbled upon Martin's ride. What were the odds of that? Low and behold, right beneath our nose, he's been out there gallivanting this whole time, LOL! So we took a few moments to read his build thread/mod log ( awesome BTW ) making sure it was him, a few things had changed, so we had to be sure. Couldn't let another modified purple galant steal his shine right!? The ground and pound history of Martins Galant, also being a dual duty machine, was deserving of a showcase. On a limb that he'd still be down for Gripset we reached out to him, this time we hit him up with a message board PM, no way, no how, we'd be beaten twice by an email server! So without further adieu, a well modified Galant, that looks great, while eating pavement.

The Motivation
There really was no motivation for this car. I bought it at the end of my senior year of high school (2008) after parting out my MKIII Supra to help pay for my upcoming college education. The car was purchased from my mother, who had purchased it new off the lot. It was my family's first brand new car after having moved to the United States and I thought it was the coolest thing ever as a 9 year old riding in the back seat on the way home from the dealership.  The goal when buying the car was to have a simple, reliable daily driver that would take me back and forth to school for the upcoming years.  Well obviously, plans changed.  With the Supra gone, there was a void left in my life, so I started wrenching on the Galant. There were years of poorly fitting Ebay shift knobs on the auto tranny, to nightshade taillights......but I found the light thanks to thegalantcenter.org and started focusing the car towards performance with looks to match.  I did my first track day the summer after my freshman year of college, and I was hooked.  All the suspension and brake modifications, the seats, the 5spd swap (the galants never came 5spd except for 500 base models that were sold in 99) and eventually the turbo kit were all in the quest of faster lap times. I saved adding power for last because I felt like it was important to prepare the chassis for power as well as being able to drive the car at its limits before increasing its capabilities.  While the outside of the car is a "look at me" shade of purple, I wanted to keep the engine bay looking OEM which is why 99% of the turbo parts are all OEM Mitsubishi.
